This mellow joint specialises in simple pleasures: fish and sake (there's an English
sign out front that says just that). There's only a counter and a few tables, so
groups should call ahead; staff speak English. Follow the wooden stairs under a
ball of cedar fronds (a traditional symbol for a sake brewery).

Tōkyū buses 2 and 7 depart from outside Meguro Station and run down Meguro-dōri,

Buri means super in Hiroshima dialect and this popular
tachinomi-ya
(standing
bar) draws a boisterous, fun-loving crowd. Generous quantities of sake (more than
50 varieties; ¥750) are served semi-frozen, like slushies in colourful jars - super,
indeed!
