From the time of its original opening in 1961, the Suntory Museum of Art has been
a champion of lifestyle art. Rotating exhibitions focus on the beauty of useful
things: Japanese ceramics, lacquerware, dyeing, weaving and such. Its new Tokyo
Midtown digs by architect Kuma Kengō are at turns understated and breathtaking.
