The two statues flanking Neptune bring with them their own symbolism, with the statue on
the left being representative of Abundance, and the statue on the right being representative
of Salubrity.
A famous Roman legend tells that if a coin is thrown over your shoulder, with your back to
the fountain, you are assured of a return visit to Rome at one point in the future. The money
thrown into the fountain is used to subsidize a food market for Rome's neediest residents.
