types of cones, denoted with three stimulus parameters S, M, and L, which can be
indicated using a 3D space, called LMS color space.
The essence of color space is to map the physical color to an objective description
in terms of tristimulus values by a trichromatic color model. Instead of using the
cone spectral sensitivities defined by LMS color space, the tristimulus values can be
conceptually viewed as amounts of three primary colors. Many color spaces have
been developed based on the color matching experiments, such as the well-known
RGB color space, which will be detailed in Sect. 2.1.2 .
