All of these qualities make zeolites an excellent addition to sandy soils that will receive
a lot of foot traffic, such as golf course greens and soccer fields. Compost is great for this,
too, and that's what I use, but zeolites don't break down like organic matter. They are also
useful in a compost pile and vermicompost bin at 3-5% of the volume of the other materi-
als to stop some of the nitrogen from leaving the pile, reduce odors and generally speed up
and improve the process. If you use zeolites, make sure you get the right type for your
use, because there are different kinds.
