Quackgrass (a.k.a., couchgrass)
Quackgrass
Quackgrass, Agropyron repens , is a perennial that reproduces by seeds and extensively
creeping underground rhizomes. In fact, seeds are relatively unimportant for reproduction
much of the time. Examination of ears often reveals seeds to be nonexistent or sterile.
Although considered a noxious weed in the United States, rhizomes from this plant have
herbal qualities and are used as extracts in treating urinary disorders. Rhizome propagation
