Enzymes and Vitamins
Various enzymes and vitamins are being marketed for plants. Most of them aren't useful
for home gardeners, but some are excellent and are likely to be especially beneficial under
certain environmental conditions. Some of the soil labs make specific vitamin recommend-
ations for a quick fix, and these can be beneficial. Vitamin B12, for example, can help to
loosen up calcium from the soil, by coaxing the microbes into action. While microbes can
make their own B12 if they have the right nutritional and environmental conditions, supple-
mentation can be very helpful in the meantime. In my opinion, this is a fun area in which to
experiment, as long as you've already taken care of the basics.
