Some gardeners and farmers are so in love with calcium they think you can't have too
much, so they may apply it annually without much thought. This is a bad idea, because if
you use too much calcium, other nutrients will become much less available or even get
leached out of the soil. Too much calcium can also create so much air space in the soil that
it's difficult to keep it wet. Let's look at the main calcium sources we could bring in if a
soil test and garden observations tell us we need it.
