The bit error probability as a function of the parameters s t and s Y appears as
Figure 3.21, which may also be plotted versus the mutual information values I ( d i ,
t i ) and I ( d i , Y i ). The plot confirms that as these mutual information values approaches
their upper limit of unity, the bit error probability becomes vanishingly small.
