In-Depth Information
Fazeley Junction with the Coventry Canal on the right .
The canal winds away along the left bank of the Tame valley, past willow-fringed meadows
of grazing cows, heading towards the mast above Hopwas. In this village the canal is flanked
by the Red Lion and the Tame Otter on opposite banks.
Hopwas Hays Wood carries notices that it is near firing ranges and the public are warned
to keep out while red flags or lights are displayed. At this point the canal comes right along-
side the river for a while, although it is not seen at the foot of the hillside. In turn, the river is
replaced by the railway as a neighbour.
An Inland Waterways Association (IWA) plaque indicates the canal's change of ownership
at Whittington Brook.
