Walsall Public Wharf is now a grassed area where a bar has waterside seating facing
a canal terminus building, which has been restored. High blocks, including the New Art
Gallery, and glass walls rise behind. Walsall has changed much since it took its name from
the Old English for Walh's valley, 'Walh' meaning a Welshman. In the 1890s it saw the activ-
ities of the Walsall anarchists.
