to you based on your particular performance requirements or if events occur within your MongoDB instances. You
can sign up for MMS at mms.mongodb.com , and we highly recommend you do so. There is nothing more powerful
than being able to dive into exactly how each of your MongoDB nodes is performing (see Figure 9-6 for an example).

Summary
Keeping your MongoDB installation running smoothly typically requires very little effort. In this chapter, you have
seen how you can use the tools provided with the MongoDB distribution to manage and maintain your system, as well
as to stay on top of any problems that may develop.
By working through this chapter you should now have the skills to backup, restore, upgrade and monitor your
MongoDB instance. You should be familiar with tools such as mongodump and mongorestore, know how to import
and export data from only certain collections and be familiar with a number of administrative commands that you can
use to derivce performance and usage statistics from your MongoDB instance.
Lastly, it must be stressed (and you've probably grasped that from everything that has been said) that the
most important lesson to take away from this chapter is this: as the administrator of a database system, your first
responsibility is to ensure that a reliable backup and restoration scheme for your data is available.
