Palazzo dell'Arengario
The austere Arengario Palace consists of two symmetrical buildings each with a
three-tier arcaded facade. It was built in the 1950s by starchitects Piero Porta-
luppi, Giovanni Muzio, Pier Giulio Magristretti and Enrico Griffini, and is decor-
ated with bas reliefs by Milanese sculptor Arturo Martini, whose work now fea-
tures in the museum's collection. The name arengario comes from the building's
original function as the government seat during the Fascist period, when officials
would arringa (harangue) the local populous from the building's balcony.
