The Sights in a Day
Head to the Duomo ( Click here ) early for sublime early-morning light
through the stained-glass windows and stroll around the gargoyled para-
pets. If it is a sunny day you may even be able to spy the Alps over the rooftops.
Then drop into elegant Giacomo Caffè ( Click here ) for a creamy marocchino cof-
fee and brioche under the arches of the Palazzo Reale ( Click here ).
For lunch sample Milan's famous saffron risotto at Peck Italian Bar
( Click here ), before immersing yourself in Milan's modernist showcase,
the Museo del Novecento ( Click here ). Meander up the spiral staircase (a
homage to the Guggenheim) admiring dynamic canvases by Umberto Boccioni
and moving terracotta sculptures by Arturo Martini. End with a cocktail in the
museum's 3rd-floor Giacomo Arengario ( Click here ) with peerless views over the
Duomo's spires. It will then be time to join the throngs window-shopping in the
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II ( Click here ).
