Getting Around
Milan's public transport system is affordable and efficient. Most visitors will get
everywhere they need to go by walking, taking the metro, or hopping on a tram.
The unlimited one-/two-day tickets for bus, tram and metro represent the best
value for money.
Metro
Milan's metro consists of three main underground lines (red MM1, green MM2,
yellow MM3) and the blue suburban line the Passante Ferroviario, and runs from
6am to midnight. A ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for one metro ride or up to 90
minutes' travel on ATM buses and trams. An unlimited one-/two-day ticket for bus,
tram and metro costs €4.50/8.25. Tickets are sold at metro stations, tobacconists
and newspaper stands. Tickets must be validated (time stamped) on buses and
trams.
