Day One
If you only have one day in Milan focus on the major sites. Rise early and
grab a coffee and custard-filled brioche at Princi ( Click here ) , before
climbing the stairs to the roof of the Duomo ( Click here ) for a rare bird's-eye view
of the city. Then head into the Museo del Novecento ( Click here ) for a blast of
20th-century art. On the 3rd floor stop for lunch at Giacomo Arengario ( Click here )
and nab a table on the terrace overlooking the Duomo's extravagant spires.
Then stroll down the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II ( Click here ), window
shop at the original Prada shop, then pass La Scala ( Click here ) on your
way to the red-brick bulwark of the Castello ( Click here ). Nip round the Ducal
apartments admiring frescoes and Michelangelo's moving Rondanini Pietà , his last
work. Break for aperitivo in the park, on the terrace of Bar Bianco ( Click here ).
Then, with pre-booked tickets in hand, head over for an evening tour of Il
Cenacolo ( Click here ) in the dimly lit refectory, before heading back to
Piazza di Duomo for a Michelin-starred dinner at Trussardi alla Scala ( Click here ).
