Fashion
Milan began to turn heads after WWII when Italy's fashion industry out grew the
workshops of Florence. Today the roll call of designers in the Quadrilatero d'Oro
make for a glamorous jaunt for any fashion-addict. Paris, New York and London
may have equally influential designers, but they can't compete with an industry
town that lives and breathes fashion and takes retail as seriously as it does bi-
otech or engineering.
Big Brand Allergy
Younger labels and multibrand retailers can be found in Brera, Corso Como and
Corso Vercelli, while giant Rinascente offers diffusion labels for men, women and
children. For the Milanese version of high-street shopping, try Porta Ticinese, Via
Torino and Corso Buenos Aires, but for Milan's most alternative and avant-garde
shopping head to Navigli and the Zona Tortona.
