In-Depth Information
Zero's dramatically designed space puts the spotlight on the kitchen, which pre-
pares traditional sashimi but also a variety of creative raw and rare dishes. Japan-
ese technique dominates, while the menu flirts with Italian flavours and ingredi-
ents (including a carpaccio -style Angus beef). (

Local Life
Milan's Best Gelati
Despite its out-of-the-way location, Gelateria Marghera ( 02 46 86 41; Via Marghera 33)
has the reputation as the city's best ice-cream parlour - which means concerted
queuing can be required to get in the door. Its range of ice-cream cakes and liquorini
(layered gelati or sorbet with fruit or nut toppings and, you guessed it, liquor) are worth
the wait. Their best-selling flavour? Pistachio.
Marginally less busy is Shockolat ( 02 4810 0597; Via Boccaccio 9; 7.30am-1am) ,
where variations play on the chocolate theme including milk, dark, white, chilli,
chocolate-hazelnut and cinnamon.
