Triennale di Milano
Italy's first Triennale took place in 1923 in Monza. It
aimed to promote interest in Italian design and the
applied arts, from 'the spoon to the city', and its suc-
cess led to the creation of Giovanni Muzio's Palazzo
d'Arte in Milan in 1933. Since then the Triennale has
championed design in all its forms, although the tri-
ennale formula has since been replaced by long annu-
al events, with international exhibits as part of the
program.
