In-Depth Information
A tender moment between aardvark and caterpillar in Hamilton Mattress .
challenge was to make it work despite the ongoing monotony and sheer tiredness. Being too delirious to
construct a sentence to the Director and hearing the walkie-talkie 'Cancel Tim's takeaway, I'm sending
him home', I completed my animation marathon, on time and 'in the can'. It was more a turning point
that if I can do this, no shot can intimidate me. Plus we cancelled my Big Mac and I was treated to a very
expensive sushi restaurant!
JC - I still think my best shot is from Hamilton Mattress . There is a moment when Hamilton is sitting on
the fl oor a little dazed and a feather gently drops on his nose. As he studies it Feldwick rushes about him,
tying a rope around his middle. Hamilton's movements are quite subtle, his body reacts to Feldwick's
pulling and prodding while he seems totally focused on the feather he is holding.
The worst shot … there have been so many. Probably on Corpse Bride - Victoria has escaped from her
room by climbing down a quilt, the second half of the scene is a bit dodgy, but the worst is the last shot
of the scene, where she runs away from camera. It just looks silly.
The most absurd thing I've animated … a scrabble board, drumming aardvark, limpets circus, zombies,
too many to mention. I have had an 'absurd situation'. I made a fi lm called Gary Glitter Changed My Life ,
the story of a woman whose life changes because of something Gary Glitter says at a concert. It is gently
inspirational tale and has little to do with Gary Glitter himself. (In fact the original star was Barry Manilow,
but I was unable to legally use his name.) The fi lm was shown at a lot of festivals but was suddenly
dropped after the paedophile scandal. I was left with a self-funded fi lm I could never show.
