I'm naively too much of a purist when it comes to the animation itself. The pleasure of stop
motion is the real hands-on approach, the direct intimate relationship between
the animator and the puppet and the level of performance that this enables. CG
animation by its very nature requires several people to create the performance,
which is both a huge strength and, in the wrong hands, a weakness. With puppets,
and the right direction and communication, the i nished performance can be
created right in front of the camera. This excites me, and I like the thrill and having
