was the i rst i lm that I had written and directed, and after eleven years of animating and
directing for others, I was exploding with too many ideas. It was a fantastic opportunity, thanks
to Aardman Animations. I'm not sure where the idea of something Shakespearean came from,
but it was probably just wanting to do something dif erent and classical. Thankfully, it was
both. I was in danger of cramming absolutely everything in, probably even the Elizabethan
kitchen sink if Shakespeare had mentioned it.
