The technique has been used to study the constitutive relationship of

including heterogeneous microstructure, 18-20 interface adhesion, 21,22
residual stresses, 23 phase transformation, 24,25 dislocation behavior in
metals, 26-28 fracture behavior in ceramics, 3,29-31 strength of bone, 32 time-
dependent behavior in soft metals 33-35 and polymers, 36-40 and small
material structures including the colloidosome particles 41 and carbon
nanotubes. 42,43
