Before you run the RSCPINST tool, you should have already con-
sulted SAP Note 73606 and decided which languages are required in
your system. SAP Note 42305 has more information about the NLS
Setting Maintenance tool.
Choose S IMULATE in the NLS Setting Maintenance tool. The S IMULATE function will
check for any problems within your existing language configuration and will generate a list
of any problems found. Common problems include missing locales, incorrect parameters,
and inconsistencies within database table entries.

Delete incorrect text literals
Older releases of SAP BW would allow users to enter incorrect character literals (such as
umlauts) into the SAP system. These entries must be deleted before a Unicode conversion
can be completed. To assist with deleting these characters, SAP provided a program called
TERM_DELETE_INCORRECT_CHARSET as part of SAP Note 1280494. The first time
you run this program, deselect D ELETE I MMEDIATELY , as shown in Figure 5.8.
