SAP Notes 1139396 and 1106393 contain useful information about
DTP objects, as well as programs to help with DTP cleanup.
4.1.7
Remove data in write-optimized DSOs
Write-optimized DSOs are used to move data into reportable DSOs. Since data in write-
optimized DSOs will be readily available in HANA tables and can be accessed through
HANA views and converted InfoCubes, the data in these write-optimized DSOs is redund-
ant and can be removed.
HANA-optimized DSOs?
As part of a HANA migration, SAP originally recommended con-
verting write-optimized DSOs to HANA-optimized DSOs, but the
official SAP guidance on this subject changed in February 2014.
Since that time, SAP has recommended that you do NOT optimize
any DSOs for HANA, and they further advise that DSOs that were
optimized for HANA be converted back to the old format. See SAP Note 1849498 for
more information.
4.1.8
Migrate old data to NLS
As the data in your system ages, you will find that older data is needed less frequently. For
this reason, older data can be migrated to near-line storage (NLS) on a smaller server so
that the few users that need access can still reach the data. The data on NLS can still be
queried in SAP BW on HANA, but the lack of high demand means that the data does not
need to be stored in-memory.
