InfoCubes can be optimized through the BW Administrator Workbench, or through an
SAP-delivered program, RSDRI_CONVERT_CUBE_TO_INMEMORY. If you use the
Administrator Workbench, you will have to convert each InfoCube manually, but if you
use the RSDRI_CONVERT_CUBE_TO_INMEMORY program, you can select all the In-
foCubes you want to convert. The program is quite fast and will usually finish the conver-
sions within 10-20 minutes, even for very large InfoCubes with millions of rows. Users can
continue to query the InfoCubes during conversion, but any data loads will need to be sus-
pended while the conversion is in progress.
Beware of custom programs!
Since the star schema of an optimized InfoCube is different from its
pre-conversion format, any custom program that has been developed
to directly access the original InfoCube must be rewritten. Only a
few companies have custom-developed programs to directly access
InfoCubes, but if your company does have such programs, you will
have to modify them to work with HANA-optimized InfoCubes.
