Since the superior performance of HANA does not require traditional data modeling
designs, such as star schemas or multidimensional models, reporting can be done directly
off the DSOs in the EDW layer of the warehouse. This renders InfoCubes, with redundant
copies of data, obsolete.
LSA++ relies heavily on virtual objects instead of copying data between the various layers.
This reduces the number of objects in each data flow and provides a smaller database
volume, while delivering superior reporting performance.
In LSA++, the source data is stored in the Open ODS layer as raw data in either DSOs or in
HANA tables. Data in HANA tables can be accessed through calculation views, and DSOs
may be queried directly.
In the core EDW layer, data can be consolidated, cleaned, and transformed, and the data
can be stored in core DSOs for use by data marts in the virtualization layer.
