Summary
Now we will take just a few more minutes of your time to recap what we have covered
in this topic. Thanks so much for your attention so far, and please consider the follow-
ing recap of some important points to remember as a reward for your patience.
We began this educational journey in Chapter 1 by examining the history of the DMO pro-
cess. In Chapter 2 , we helped to build the business case for HANA and offered some helpful
guidance on planning, budgeting, staffing, and sizing a HANA migration project. Chapter 3
examined HANA hardware options and the manner in which SAP streamlined the BW ar-
chitecture in SAP BW on HANA. We also examined the role of the SAP BusinessObjects
toolset in reporting and analysis of HANA data.
In Chapter 4 , we took a first look at cleaning up your existing BW system before your
move to HANA. Chapter 5 provided the prerequisites for implementing your BW system on
HANA. We also examined the conversions that are required for Unicode, security, and BEx
WAD templates.
Chapter 6 provided a detailed set of step-by-step instructions which you can use in your own
DMO migration projects. An in-depth look at the processes required, as well as some of
the theory behind the DMO processes, was provided here. We also provided a task list with
more than 600 items which you can use as a baseline for your own DMO migration efforts.
In Chapter 7 , you learned some important techniques for monitoring the health of your
SAP HANA system. You learned how to monitor HANA from the BW side using
DBACOCKPIT, as well as monitoring from within HANA Studio. You also gained some
insight into building a performance monitoring dashboard through Design Studio.
