Figure 7.6: Viewing the system landscape in DBACOCKPIT
In the S ERVICES menu, you can see memory usage by each of the processes on each host.
Be aware that you cannot filter by service name because the DBACOCKPIT filter will
automatically convert your filter to uppercase and return no results. Instead, you should fil-
ter on the port.
In the INI F ILES section of the C ONFIGURATION menu, you can edit some of the system
parameters. For example, as mentioned earlier, you can change the global_allocation_limit
in the global.ini file to keep your system from exceeding the amount of memory for which
you have a HANA license.
From the V OLUMES section, you can monitor the disks in your system. The layout of
the screen can make it difficult to navigate and understand the information shown on this
screen, so you have the option to export the volume and disk information to an Excel
spreadsheet if you prefer, as shown in Figure 7.7. Notice that you can highlight the column
headers and filter your results to make the data easier to consume.
From the B ACKUP C ONFIGURATION section, you can configure the destination folders for
the data and log backups. You can also specify the interval for how often the backups
should be completed. To alter the schedule for backups, open the DBA P LANNING C ALEN -
DAR under the J OBS folder in the navigation pane.
