Logging and statistics
Once you have installed the application servers, you will need to verify that logging has
been enabled in the global.ini file of the persistence layer. SAP Note 1645183 has inform-
ation about changing the log mode of the SAP HANA database.
You may also have to activate the statistics server process in SAP HANA Studio. Prior to
SPS 7, the statistics server was enabled by default and would appear as a service in the
landscape tab of the HANA administration console. As part of SPS 7, many of the fea-
tures of the statistics server process could be completed through the SQL console. While
the idea behind this was to eliminate the need for an active process, the statistics server
process is required if you intend to monitor the health of the HANA system through the
DBACOCKPIT in SAP BW.
To activate the statistics server process, simply navigate to the C ONFIGURATION tab of the
SAP HANA administration console. From the C ONFIGURATION tab, expand the nameserv-
er.ini file and change the parameter for the statistics server to TRUE .
