Update the Data Dictionary
We discussed updating the Data Dictionary in
Section 5.2.11
. When
you lock the development environment as part of the pre-processing
phase, make any last-minute updates to the Data Dictionary using
transaction code SPDD.
It may be necessary to repeat the pre-processing phase several times to address errors like
the SPDD update shown in Figure 6.7.

Transaction log handling
Before beginning the execution phase of the DMO process, you should manually back up
the transaction log for the system using SAP Enterprise Manager. After you have created
the backup manually in Enterprise Manager, you should also cancel the automatic transac-
tion log backup job. You should also switch the recovery mode to
S

prior to begin-
ning the execution phase of the DMO migration in SUM.

Final downtime preparations
When you have completed the transaction log handling, there are a few more steps you
need to take prior to beginning the execution phase of the DMO migration, as shown in
Figure 6.8.
