Check the notes!
SAP Note 317096 has detailed instructions for generating the migra-
tion key needed during this step of the DMO process.
You will also be prompted to S ELECT O PERATING S YSTEM ON D ATABASE H OST . The se-
lections at this stage include, Windows NT IA64, Windows NT X86_64, AIX, HP-UX,
HP-UX IA64, SunOS, and Linux, so make sure you select the correct version of the operat-
ing system which contains your source database. If you choose the incorrect option at this
stage, you will encounter problems during the migration.
You should also be prompted to enter the password for the <SID>adm account. Make sure
you enter this correctly to avoid authentication errors during the migration.

Extraction errors
If a step in the extraction process does not complete successfully, you will receive a notific-
ation of the problem as shown in Figure 6.2. If you encounter an error, you can find more
details about the problem that was encountered by looking in the CHECKS.LOG file. A
sample log file is shown in Figure 6.3. In the example shown, the error log indicates that
there was a problem when attempting to connect to the source database. Suggested steps to
resolve the problem, as well as the relevant SAP Notes with more details, will be included
in the error log.
