adjacent slabs to be disturbed; in particular some have been pushed sideways, one of them now
impinging by some 25 cm into the gutter that delineates the slope on its southern side (Y in Fig.
11.16). On nearby Wudinna Hill, a slab roughly 5.4 m by 7.5 m and 320-530 mm thick has moved
downslope 230-260 mm on a 19° incline, and a similar slippage is evidenced on one of the
Kulgera Hills, Northern Territory ( Figs 11.17a and b) . Displaced blocks have been noted in many
other places (e.g. Fig. 11.17c).
Displaced slabs are anomalous forms because there are many examples of blocks and boulders
perched precariously on slopes steeper than those on which slippage of slabs has occurred. The
