Glover-Archbold Park
If you're tired of being in the city, but don't have time to go out to the country, this short hike through
the woods will restore your spirits and bring you back to nature.
Distance: 2.6 miles out and back

Difficulty: Easy, but some of the trail might be rocky or muddy

Finding the trailhead: From Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown, turn left onto Reser-
voir Road NW. After about 0.25 mile, turn right onto 37th Street NW. After about 0.5
mile, 37th Street bears slightly left and becomes Tunlaw Road. Follow Tunlaw Road to
42nd Street, turn left on 42nd Street, and park anywhere along the road. GPS: N38

The Hike
Glover-Archbold Park is a wooded oasis in the midst of the city. Named for two Washington citizens
who donated land for the park, it is part of the larger Rock Creek Park system. Portions of the path fol-
low Foundry Branch, which leads to the C&O Canal. Depending on the season and the precipitation, the
creek can be nearly a dry bed, or can hold gently flowing water. Autumn is a wonderful time to hike
