Park at the Theodore Roosevelt Island parking lot. On the north side of the lot, you will
see a ramp leading up to a bridge that crosses the George Washington Parkway.

After crossing the parkway, follow the path to the corner of Lynn Street. Turn right and fol-
low the sidewalk to Key Bridge and cross using the pedestrian walkway. Follow the bridge
all the way, taking care when crossing the entrance to Whitehurst Freeway.

Turn right at the Francis Scott Key Memorial Garden at the corner of Key Bridge and M
Street. There is a drinking fountain here. Follow the path down to the C&O Canal towpath
and turn left.

At 31st Street and the towpath, turn right down the hill, crossing K Street, and then turn
left to the Washington Harbour.

Walk along the boardwalk by the harbor.

Just past the harbor, Thompson's Boat House will be straight ahead. On the left is a short
bridge leading to a parking lot. Cross that bridge and follow the path to the right that goes
along the river.

Walk under Roosevelt Bridge and you will see a spot to enjoy views of the river. This is
the turnaround point. Retrace your steps from here, taking a detour into Georgetown if
you choose.

Arrive back at the trailhead in the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial parking lot.
