Start at the Smithsonian Metro stop. Walk east, toward the US Capitol, along the right
side of the mall area.

Turn right onto 4th Street right by the Museum of the American Indian. Then turn left onto
Independence Avenue.

At the corner of 1st Street and Independence Avenue, turn left and, if you wish to, visit the
US Botanic Garden. Continue on 1st Street, crossing in front of the US Capitol. Turn left
on Pennsylvania Avenue, then left on 3rd Street.
