Begin by crossing the pedestrian bridge from the parking lot.

At the entrance to the island, turn right and follow the far right trail, the Swamp Trail.

Continue straight; the Woods Trail ends here. Just ahead are restrooms and a drinking
fountain.

The trail bears left at the south end of the island just under the Roosevelt Bridge. The path
becomes a boardwalk.

Turn left to walk the short boardwalk to the middle of the swamp. Return to the main path.

Just after the boardwalk ends, there is a narrow unmarked trail that goes right. Follow this
for views of the water and the Washington Harbour across the river. The trail will loop
around and rejoin the Swamp Trail.

Bear right to stay on the trail. When it divides, turn left to join the Upland Trail.

Turn right to go into memorial plaza.

Arrive at memorial plaza. After visiting, return to the Upland Trail and turn right.

At the fork, bear left and continue on the Upland Trail.

The Upland Trail ends at the Swamp Trail where the restrooms and drinking fountain are.
Turn right and retrace your steps to the island entrance.

Turn left to cross the bridge back to the parking lot.

Arrive back at the trailhead and the parking lot.
