Bridge, J. and Demicco, R. (2008) Earth Surface Processes, Landforms and Sediment
Deposits , Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. A long, detailed, but very
well illustrated textbook popular among students.
Grotzinger, J. and Jordan, T.H. (2010) Understanding Earth , sixth edition, New
York: W.H. Freeman and Company. This is a full colour text with additional
media materials to explain the internal workings of the Earth and especially
those around plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanism.
Holden, J. (ed.) (2008) An Introduction to Physical Geography and the Environment ,
second edition, Harlow: Pearson Education. A textbook with expert con-
tributors providing more in-depth material on all of the topics covered in
this chapter.
Morgan, R.P.C. (2005) Soil Erosion and Conservation , third edition, Oxford:
Blackwell. This is a student textbook with good examples.
Summerfield, M.A. (1991) Global Geomorphology , Harlow: Pearson Education.
This is a detailed text for those who want to pursue geomorphological
topics in a lot more depth. There is excellent use of illustrations and exam-
ples.
Yatsu, E. (1988) The Nature of Weathering , Tokyo: Sozosha. This is a very
thorough treatment of the processes for those who want significantly more
detail and equations.
