Paracarcinosoma probably reached a length
of at least 1 m (3.3 ft).
By far the largest eurypterids from the
Berte Waterlime, and the biggest
eurypterids known from anywhere, are
the pterygotids. Being so large, whole
pterygotids are rarely found, so we
can only make estimates of their size in
real-life from fragments. The specimen
of Acutiramus macrophthalmus shown in
( 75) was discovered in 1964 in the
Phelps Member of the Fiddlers Green
Formation in eastern New York and is
one of the largest arthropod fossils
