Other theropods
Several smaller theropods are present in
Hell Creek including the 'bird mimic',
Ornithomimus , and the 'ostrich mimic',
Struthiomimus ( 170, 171 ). Both were
about 4 m (12 ft) long with small heads
and toothless beaks carried on a long
curved neck, long sprinter's legs, and long
tails for balance. They were so similar to
present-day ostriches that they probably
had a similar life style and diet of insects
and small animals. Even smaller were the
dromeosaurs, including Dromeosaurus
itself, and Saurornitholestes ( 172 ), one of
