Hardware Implementations of CCs Using
Off-the-Shelf ICs
Abstract In this chapter a variety of hardware implementations of CCs (CCI, CCII
and their multiple output versions) using commercially available IC op-amps, IC
OTAs, IC transistor arrays and IC current sources have been described and their
limitations, advantages and performance ranges have been outlined. The circuits
discussed herein can be advantageously employed to build many of the CC-based
circuits described in this monograph.
2.1
Introduction
In this chapter, we present various hardware implementations of Current Conveyors
based on commercially available ICs which have been proposed by various
researchers [ 1 - 17 ] from time to time.
2.2 Hardware Implementations of CCs Using Off-the-
Shelf ICs
Various off-the-shelf ICs have been employed in the past to construct CCs such as
op-amps, operational transconductance amplifiers (OTA), combinations thereof
and op-amps along with transistor arrays etc. In the following, various
implementations proposed have been described and their merits and demerits
have been highlighted.
2.2.1 Black-Friedmann-Sedra CC Implementation Using
an Op-Amp with Uncommitted Leads
The simplified forms of Black, Friedmann and Sedra implementations of the CCII+
and CCII
are shown in Figs. 2.1 and 2.2 respectively (with trimming resistors used
