Chapter 10
Varieties of Current Conveyors
Abstract This chapter describes numerous varieties of CCs evolved till date. In
each case, the characterization of the building block is given, its salient features
have been outlined and wherever necessary and relevant, the most significant
applications/advantageous features have also been highlighted.
10.1
Introduction
The initial focus of researchers was dominantly on investigating the applications
and hardware implementation of only the basic types of current conveyors intro-
duced by Sedra and Smith namely CCI and CCII, as evidenced by the numerous
publications during 1968 till about 1990 which are included in several chapters of
this monograph and have been well documented in several tutorial/ review papers
on Current Conveyors. With the advent of a number of possible hardware
implementations of CCI/CCII, it was soon understood that creating multiple out-
puts having similar or complementary polarity was quite easy thereby rendering
further flexibility to CCI
. Subsequently, many researchers
started contemplating different varieties of current conveyors with modified termi-
nal characteristics between X, Y and Z ports and/or increasing the number of X, Y
and Z terminals or some other generalizations, thereby leading to a variety of new
types of current/voltage conveyors, see [ 1 - 73 ].
In this chapter, we enumerate many different varieties of current conveyors
introduced till date, discuss their models/implementations and also highlight the
areas of applications or characteristic features due to which the new variants offer
significant advantages over the basic types of Current Conveyors.
as well as CCII
10.2 Different Variants of the Current Conveyors
In the following, we present the new variants of the current conveyors evolved
so far.
