Tobin Park: Oakwell Trail
This hike is for those who enjoy open woods filled with large (4-foot diameter), mature live oaks and
other hardwoods. Some folks may remember playing in this type of woods when they were children.
Salado Creek is within view for much of the way. The trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
Distance: 1.4-miles out and back
Approximate hiking time: 1 hour
Difficulty: Easy due to flat, shaded, paved trail
Trail surface: Asphalt
Best seasons: Year-round
Other trail users: Dog walkers, bikers, joggers
Canine compatibility: Leashed dogs permitted

Special considerations: Smoking only in designated areas. There is a portable toilet adja-
cent to the parking lot. Swimming or wading is not allowed in Salado Creek.
Finding the trailhead: From north of downtown, take I-35 north to the Eisenhauer
Road exit. Proceed west on Eisenhauer Road for 1.75 miles to Austin Highway. Turn
right onto Austin Highway, proceed north about 0.5 mile, and turn onto Ira Lee Road.
Follow Ira Lee for a few blocks to 100 Ira Lee Rd. Turn right into the park entrance and
