Stone Oak Park: Spider's
Dare Trail
This relatively new park, which opened in 2006, is developing some short but very interesting trails.
The area is prime karst territory, somewhat similar to the Hill Country. The entrances to Cub Cave and
Bear Cave may be viewed. Interpretive signage adds interest to the hike. What hiker could resist a trail
called “Spider's Dare”?

Approximate hiking time: 1 hour
Difficulty: Easy due to flat paved trail

Finding the trailhead: From north of downtown, take US 281 to the I-1604 loop.
Take I-1604 1.5 miles west to the Stone Oak Parkway exit. Exit onto Stone Oak Park-
way and proceed north for 3.5 miles to 20395 Stone Oak Parkway. Turn left into the
park entrance road and parking lot. The trailhead is adjacent to the parking lot.
