Eisenhower Park: Yucca,
Shady Creek, and Cedar Flats
Trails
Eisenhower Park, with its 320 acres and over 5 miles of trails, allows hikers to choose from paved, rel-
atively flat trails or rocky, natural-surface, strenuous hikes. This hike offers some of both. Cedar Flats
Trail and sections of Yucca Trail are wheelchair and stroller accessible.
Distance: 1.9-mile clockwise loop
Approximate hiking time: 1 hour
Difficulty: Easy except for 0.3-mile Shady Creek Trail, which is moderate
Trail surface: Asphalt except for Shady Creek Trail's stone and limestone outcrops.
Best seasons: Year-round
Other trail users: Dog walkers, joggers

Special considerations: No in-line skates, scooters, or bicycles are allowed. Restrooms
and water are at the trailhead.
Finding the trailhead: From downtown, take I-10 west to Loop 1604 East (Anderson
Loop). Stay on Loop 1604 for 1.5 miles, then take the exit for FM 1535, Shavano Park
& Military Highway. Turn left onto Northwest Military Highway and follow it for 1.6
