Apart from these general findings, there are some equally interesting and
more specific findings, which are described in the following text.
Spectra of R Samples
The fingerprint region:
In the fingerprint region of spectra of the treated
R samples, the peaks flatten gradually with an increase in the drug concen-
tration. This finding can be seen in Figure 6.10. However, a relatively different
condition is seen in two areas:
a. In the amide I region, a shoulder is being added to the main peak
along with the increase in the strength of the medication.
b. A similar observation can be seen in the C = C peak (~1550 cm
−1
).
Both of these findings indicate creation of new chemical groups in the cells
as a result of the medication.
The CH region:
The decrease in the peak intensities can obviously be seen
(Figure 6.11).
Spectra of S Samples
The fingerprint region:
The sudden fall of the peak intensities and the collapse of
the overall structure of the spectra can be seen in Figure 6.12. In other words,
while in the R spectra, application of stronger medications will result in a
step-by-step fall in the peaks, in the S spectra, after applying the lowest strength
