For Your Information: What is Metadata?
Metadata is information about an image file, such as its author, copyright,
creation date, size, version, color space, resolution, and searchable
keywords. This data is stored in the file or in a separate file known as a
sidecar file , using a standard format called Extensible Metadata Platform
(XMP) . Bridge uses XMP files to help you organize and search for files on
your computer. Metadata is also stored in other formats, such as EXIF (di-
gital camera data), IPTC (photographer and image data), GPS (global posi-
tioning system data), and TIFF, which are all synchronized with XMP.
