For Your Information: What is the DNG File Format?
The DNG, or Digital Negative, format is an openly published raw file
format from Adobe that stores “raw” pixel data captured by digital cameras
before it has been converted to another format, such as TIFF or JPEG. In
addition, it captures standard 'EXIF' metadata, such as date, time, camera
used, and camera settings. Saving raw files in the DNG format provides
several advantages. DNG files are smaller than uncompressed TIFFs, and
they do not have the artifacts of compressed JPEGs. Many key camera
parameters, such as white balance, can be modified even after the image is
captured. You have access to 16-bit data for greater detail and fidelity, and
the added flexibility of converting a single file using multiple conversion
