Split a Path Using the Control Panel
Select the
Direct Selection
tool on the Tools panel.
Select the object with the path, and then click the anchor point that you want to
split.
Click the
Cut Path at Selected Anchor Points
button on the Control panel.
A new anchor point appears on top of the selected one.
To move the anchor point, drag the selected point to display the other anchor
point below it.
