Despite a certain degree of progress, the continuing atmospheric, sea and
soil pollution could have dramatic consequences on health, water quality
and agricultural production.
Currently however, the greatest and most immediate risk concerns the
climate change caused by human sources of greenhouse gas emissions.
The next chapter analyses the effects of climate change, which jeopar-
dise the very future of our Earth.
